The Bank of Elk River Celebrates Chief Credit Officer Nate Ovall’s 25 Years of Service

The Bank of Elk River is recognizing Chief Credit Officer Nate Ovall for 25 years of service. Ovall joined the bank in 1999 as a college intern and advanced through roles, including consumer lender, commercial lender, Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) workout specialist, director of credit management, and, ultimately, chief credit officer. A graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, he is known for his clear thinking, sound judgment, and customer-first approach.

Ovall’s experience includes guiding the bank through significant economic shifts, supporting special assets during the Great Recession, and stepping into the role of lead lender just before the statewide pandemic shutdown. His leadership in credit strategy, portfolio management, and risk mitigation has contributed to the bank’s stability and long-term growth.

Ovall also serves the City of Elk River in multiple civic roles, including four years on the City Council, five years on the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, and ten-plus years on the Joint HRA/EDA Finance Committee. His involvement reflects a commitment to strengthening local neighborhoods and supporting responsible development.

“Nate understands our culture and our commitment to serving customers while protecting the bank’s best interests,” said John Babcock, President, CEO, and Chairman of The Bank of Elk River. “He brings clear thinking to complex matters and applies his experience and training to help coworkers, customers, and the bank make sound decisions. He pairs a drive for results with creative problem solving, and his perspective will serve the bank well in the days ahead.”

The Bank of Elk River extends its appreciation to Ovall for his leadership, community involvement, and decades of dedicated service.
