The Bank of Elk River Introduces a New Way to Donate with Interest for Others

The Bank of Elk River, together with Interest For Others, today became the nation's first bank to offer its customers an online giving program in support of local charitable organizations.

The bank’s customers and community members can make donations to local charities electronically via InterestForOthers.org/TBER without charge for transaction fees. Fully 100% of the donation goes to the charities customers choose.

John Babcock, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, called the giving program an example of technology and innovation that matches the bank's commitment to provide meaningful community support.

"Local charities serve our customers’ communities where they live and work," Babcock said. "Unlike large, national nonprofits, local charities depend on those they serve as well as volunteers to tell their story. We are proud to be a ground-breaking leader in bringing this to our customers and community."

Interest for Others Foundation founder Bill Dolan acknowledged the bank’s leadership role, “The Bank of Elk River's introduction of the Interest for Others online donation platform is an example for other banks. Interest for Others is fortunate, and proud, to be conducting its first bank-referred customer giving program with The Bank of Elk River,” he said.

Charities in the Northwest Metro area selected for the program include Anoka Technical College Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Star, CAER Food Shelf, Friends of Sherburne County National Wildlife Refuge, Guardian Angels Senior Services, Initiative Foundation, Land of Lakes Choirboys of Minnesota, Open Doors for Youth, Passing the Bread Food Distribution, Ruff Start Rescue, Sherburne County Area United Way, and Three Rivers Community Foundation.

Interest for Others Foundation was founded in Minneapolis by retired attorney Bill Dolan in 2014. It benefits 52 other charities in Minnesota and South Dakota.
