Tips to Grow Your Business in 2019

Tips to Grow Your Business in 2019

We’re firmly into the new year and a new month for your business. Before we get too deep into the calendar, take a look at the challenges and successes of last year and determine your vision and goals for growth over the next twelve months. Here are five tips to grow your business in 2019.

Refocus on and renew customer relations.
No matter your industry or the size of your company, take time to refocus on your customers. Jot down a list of what has worked well and what could use improvement. Send an email thanking your customers for their business and ask what you can do for them in the new year. Follow up with any clients who express dissatisfaction with your services. Make it personal – while it’s fine to send large email campaigns, touching base on an individual level, if possible, can go a long way to repair or bolster customer relations. That personal touch – even a small handwritten note placed in an order – just might result in enthusiastic and long-lasting brand loyalty.

Host an event.
Bring customers in for something other than day-to-day business operations. If you’re in the position to do so, host an event, either specifically for your clients or for a broader audience. Share industry knowledge with a seminar or workshop. Offer a tour of your location and take customers behind the scenes. Plan a customer appreciation event that corresponds with a fun national holiday like National Pizza Day (February 9) or Valentine’s Day. Make it memorable so they’ll keep coming back even when you don’t offer a free slice of pizza or root beer float.

Give back to your community.
Your customers want to know that you’re in business for more than turning a profit. Build your reputation as a company that helps others. You’ll not only gain loyal customers, you’ll boost morale among your employees, all while making a positive difference in the community. Choose beneficiaries with a significant, personal connection to the business in some way. Be visible outside of the office as well. Sponsor a youth sports team. Participate in local festivals, business expos, or other events. Let your customers see that you care about your community.

Spread the word.
Up your social media game and reach past, present, and future customers in new ways. Spend some time learning about how – and where – your customers interact online. Decide on the most relevant social media platforms for your business (and your objectives) and put best practices to use. Engage with your clients online in meaningful ways that leave a positive impression. Ask customers to post testimonials and be sure to respond to all reviews, positive or negative. Your customers are using social media, so meet them where they scroll.

Challenge yourself.
Make 2019 the year that you step outside of your comfort zone. Experiment with new, more efficient ways of doing things, no matter how difficult or uncertain they might initially seem. Hard work and overcoming obstacles lead to growth. You’ve come this far. Challenge yourself to take the next step.
